After Survival: Learning How to Live
A 4-week live online group before the holidays
Some of us learned how to survive long before we learned how to live.
We learned how to read the room. Keep the peace. Handle things ourselves. Push through. Stay useful. Make sure everybody else was okay.
And then the holidays come around and somehow we’re right back in the same old role.
The fixer.
The peacemaker.
The one who says yes.
The one who keeps everybody comfortable.
The one who leaves exhausted and wonders why we did it again.
After Survival: Learning How to Live is a 4-week live online group designed to help you notice those old survival patterns and practice a different way of responding before the holidays arrive.
What we’ll actually practice
Over four weeks, we’ll work on things like:
knowing what’s yours to carry and what isn’t
saying what you need without a five-minute explanation
letting someone be disappointed without rushing to fix it
noticing when you slip back into an old role
figuring out what you actually want before automatically saying yes
making decisions with more intention instead of reacting from guilt, fear, or obligation
deciding ahead of time how you want to show up for the holidays
The goal is simple:
Go into Thanksgiving with more choices than you had before.
Week 1: Notice the Role
We’ll look at the roles and patterns you learned to rely on.
Maybe you became the one who handled everything.
Maybe you learned to keep the peace.
Maybe you got very good at needing less, staying useful, reading the room, or taking care of everybody else first.
This week is about recognizing what still gets activated in your life now.
Week 2: What Is Actually Mine?
This week we’ll work on responsibility, guilt, needs, limits, and the difference between caring about someone and carrying them.
We’ll practice asking:
What is mine to handle?
What belongs to someone else?
What do I actually need here?
This is where things usually get harder.
You may know what you want to say, but then someone gets disappointed, irritated, confused, or upset.
And suddenly you want to explain, fix, soften, backtrack, or give in.
We’ll practice staying connected to yourself even when someone else has a reaction.
Week 3: Let People Have Their Feelings
Week 4: Decide Before the Holidays Decide for You
Before Thanksgiving arrives, we’ll bring everything together.
We’ll look at the people, roles, expectations, and situations most likely to pull you back into old survival patterns.
Then you’ll create a simple plan for how you want to show up instead.
Not perfectly.
Just more intentionally.
This group may be for you if…
You’re tired of being the person who always handles everything.
You keep saying yes when you mean maybe or no.
You overexplain because you want everyone to understand.
You feel responsible for other people’s disappointment.
You keep finding yourself in the same family role year after year.
You want to enter the holidays feeling more prepared, more aware, and more connected to yourself.
Or maybe you simply know:
I’m really good at surviving. I want to get better at living.
